CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Four illegal gambling machines were seized from a Charlotte convenience store last week, police announced Wednesday.
Officers said the business, Magic 777 Mart along South Hoskins Road, had been warned about the illegal nature of its machines but “failed to comply.”
On Friday, Feb. 28, police executed a search warrant at the store and seized the following:
Police also advised that two people were found using the machines while the search warrant was executed; those individuals were charged with misdemeanors.
According to police, an investigation into Magic 777 Mart began in late 2024, after officers noticed a rise in calls for service at the location.
From Aug. 1 to Dec. 1, 2024, police said the store was the culprit of 44 calls from citizens for service. Due to this, a “deeper” investigation into the business was launched.

As of this writing, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they’re continuing to investigate the business, ownership, and employees.
It was not immediately clear if any additional charges were made.
