BOONE, IA (KTIV) – Changes are coming to the Iowa high school sports landscape as the IHSAA and the IGHSAU approved some changes for the future.
Beginning in the 2025-2026 season the boys golf and girls tennis seasons will be moved to the fall.
This is in an effort to “reduce congestion in the spring sports season” which currently features 8 sports and crosses into the summer sports season.
Girls golf and boys tennis will remain as spring sports.
Other notable change made by the state include the elimination of the closely guarded five second rule, also substate boys’ basketball finals in both class 4A and 3A will be hosted by the higher seeded team.
