Nebraska football has parted ways with special teams coordinator Ed Foley. Foley has been a part of the Nebraska football coaching staff for the last two seasons. He was part of Matt Rhule’s coaching staff at Baylor, Temple, and in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers.

Nebraska’s special teams struggled in 2024, with 10 kicks blocked on the season. This included key kicks and punts blocked in the Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College and special-teams issues throughout the season in games against Rutgers, Iowa, and Purdue.

Foley was a key part of Nebraska’s special-teams recruiting, as he landed Jack McAllister from the Washington Huskies and Kevin Gallic from New Hampshire.

Rhule indicated that changes needed to be made to the special team’s operation following the Pinstripe Bowl. It appears that these changes are beginning to take effect, and it will be interesting to see who Foley’s replacement is and whether or not he will have a role with the program moving forward.
