WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women’s golf team has released its 2025 spring schedule, presented by MedStar Health, that features five regular season tournaments in four different states as well as the BIG EAST Championships, a postseason event. Of the six tournaments on the slate, the Hoyas will return to two tournaments they played in during the 2024 spring season and participate in four tournaments new to the GU repertoire.
ABOUT THE SCHEDULE
- Georgetown opens the spring slate at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State University on February 2-4 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, California. It marks a return to the course and the event, hosted by the Buckeyes, for the fourth season in a row. In last year’s tournament, inclement weather forced the format to be changed to match play.
- The Hoyas will close out the month at the Daniel Island Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston on February 24 and 25. The two-day tournament at the Daniel Island Club in South Carolina will be the first trip to Daniel Island for a Georgetown squad led by Head Coach Kate Schanuel.
- Nearly a month later, the Blue & Gray will head to the City of Oaks Collegiate, hosted by NC State on March 21 and 22. The Wolfpack will play host at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina. This will be the first appearance of a GU golf team in a tournament hosted by NC State.
- Georgetown will spend March 28-30 in Aiken, South Carolina to participate in the inaugural More Than Golf Invitational. The new 12-team tournament was created by the ANNIKA Foundation in partnership with Old Barnwell and will be co-hosted by Augusta University and Columbia University at the Aiken, South Carolina golf club.
- The Hoyas will spend April 6-7 close to home at the Maryland Invitational in College Park, Maryland.
- The Blue & Gray will open postseason action at the 2025 BIG EAST Championship at Riverton Pointe in Hardeeville, South Carolina. The Hoyas have finished as runners-up in the last three championships. At last year’s championship, the Hoyas finished two strokes off the leader at 19-over 883 (297-285-301). Georgia Ruffolo and Megan Gormley are the top returning finishers from that squad with the pair tying for third at even 216. The last conference championship held at Riverton Pointe was the 2023 BIG EAST Championship when GU finished at 44-over 908. Gormley is the lone member of the squad who played in that championship, carding a 16-over 232, including her final round at 2-under 70.
