The past two days have been a roller coaster of emotion for West Virginia men’s basketball.
The Mountaineers (4-2) managed one of the biggest upsets of the season as they stunned No. 3 Gonzaga in an overtime win, and then got caught in a fierce battle less than 24 hours later against Louisville that ended with another overtime period and a heartbreaking loss for WVU.
Now, they play for third-place in the The Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament where they will meet another ranked opponent and a Big 12 opponent new to the league — No. 24 Arizona (3-3). It will be the first of two regular season clashes between the two teams, as they are slated to meet in conference play later this season. The Wildcats enter following a loss to undefeated Oklahoma for the spot against Louisville in the tournament championship game.
