Tualatin boys basketball (15-4) might be closing in on its third 6A Three Rivers conference title in four years.
However, upstart Oregon City (16-3) has a chance to shake up the status quo. Oregon City hasn’t won a conference title since leaving the 6A Mt. Hood in 2018, but it’s one key win away from flipping the script. After opening conference play with a 20-point loss to Tualatin at Willamette University on Dec. 23, Oregon City won 63-52 at home on Jan. 14, and neither team has lost any other conference games.
So when the teams go at it on Friday evening, it’ll most likely constitute a 6A Three Rivers crown for the winner. And it’s one of NFHS Network’s official games of the week.
Starting with the win against Tualatin, Oregon City has won six games in a row, and all by double-digits. Its only other losses on the season came at Century in its season opener and at Westview on Jan. 7.
Tualatin has two narrow losses against statewide No. 1 Barlow and one blowout loss to nationally-ranked Arizona heavyweight Millennium. The Timberwolves are led by one of Oregon’s top backcourts, junior Jemai Lake and sophomore Pat Vialva Jr., both of whom hold D-1 offers. They also have some size in their core rotation including senior forwards Nolan Keeney (6-5, BYU football commit) and Javier Diaz (6-7).
Oregon City gets most of its production from guards Gylan Payne, Eli Hopkins, Alarion Scott, and Alijah Scott.
