One week ago, the St. John’s University Red Storm clinched the regular season Big East Conference title.
Today, they’ll play their last regular season game against Marquette University with hopes of extending a win streak to six games.
Ahead of the matchup, Coach Rick Pitino said, “I don’t have to motivate them because they know how important this game is. It’s important that we play great basketball. We played a great game against UConn at the Garden, and the next two, we didn’t play great basketball.”
The team has not been without their fair share of injuries, and point guard Deivon Smith likely won’t play today after a right shoulder injury flared up again during last weekend’s game.
However, Kadary Richmond, Aaron Scott and RJ Luis Jr., who all dealt with leg injuries recently, all practiced fully this week with the intention to play in today’s game.
For the first time in 40 years, the Johnnies won the regular season Big East title with a win against Seton Hall. Ranked sixth in the nation, they’ll enter the Big East tournament — a precursor to March Madness — as the No. 1 seed.
The St. John’s Red Storm play the Marquette Golden Eagles today, March 8. Tip-off is set for noon ET.
St. John’s vs Marquette is airing on FOX. If you have cable or a TV antenna, all you have to do is change the channel around noon.
If you recently cut the cord, the best way to stream the St. John’s game for free is to use a live TV streaming service with a free trial.
We recommend DIRECTV Stream, which offers a five-day free trial for new subscribers. When the trial is over, you’ll pay $86.99/month and gain access to over 90 live channels, including FOX.
fuboTV also offers a free trial for new users. It runs for seven days, and then you’ll be able to save $20 on your first month ($64.99, $84.99/month after).
While Sling TV doesn’t offer a free trial, you’ll save money on your first month of streaming rather than just five days free. Sling TV’s Blue plan, which includes FOX, is currently 50% off for your first month.
Today is the end of St. John’s regular season, but they’re far from finished. Their next game will be in the quarterfinal round of the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden. As the top seed, they’ve received a first round bye and will face an opponent yet to be determined on Thursday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
