Cade Cunningham previews Pistons 2024-25 season: ‘New energy in here’
Cade Cunningham speaks at practice Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 one day before the Detroit Pistons season opener.
The Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons have both started their campaigns to return to the playoffs after multi-year droughts, and this season their games will be on a different platform. Well, sort of.
Bally Sports has rebranded as FanDuel Sports Network as part of a years-long bankruptcy battle involving Diamond Sports Group, which owns 16 regional sports networks, including in Detroit.
As you may have noticed, that means “Bally Sports Detroit” now appears on screens as “FanDuel Sports Network Detroit.”
The good news is none of that should change your ability to watch your favorite teams.
Streaming platform Fubo partnered with regional streaming services, including FanDuel Sports Network Detroit, to air NHL games and NBA games via stream.
Anyone can sign up for Fubo and access games via their area’s regional sports network without the requirement of an extra FanDuel Sports account.
It should be an exciting season for both the Pistons and Red Wings, as both teams who play at Little Caesars Arena seem to be trending upward.
The Pistons, of course, were the worst team in the NBA last season and in franchise history at 14-68, but cleaned house by firing both their general manager Troy Weaver and head coach Monty Williams. They brought in Trajan Langdon as the new president of basketball operations and J.B. Bickerstaff as the new coach.
Meanwhile, the Red Wings ended last season in a much better place than the Pistons, narrowly missing the playoffs on the last day, but weren’t quite as busy in the offseason. That doesn’t mean GM Steve Yzerman was quiet, as the team’s former captain swung some deals, handed out some new extensions, and even signed veteran winger Vladimir Tarasenko.
