Oregon went punch for punch in a terrific Saturday night showdown with the Buckeyes, where the last seven consecutive scoring drives led to lead changes. The Ducks mounted an 11-play, 74 yard drive that covered 4:13, but they had to settle for a 19-yard go-ahead field goal by Atticus Sappington with 1:47 remaining. That was plenty of clock for the Buckeyes, who ran out of time in a potential game-winning drive.
While Purdue is a heavy 28.5-point underdog in this one, the Boilermakers more open the door for an emotional letdown for coach Dan Lanning and Oregon. It’s a good test of national championship mettle for the Ducks, but also an opportunity for host Purdue to play with little to lose against a national title contender.
