How much does Tennessee have to pay Alabama football after fans stormed the field at Neyland Stadium?

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama football lost to Tennessee at Neyland Stadium Saturday night. And just like the Crimson Tide saw after two weeks prior against Vanderbilt, Volunteers fans flooded the stands as the clock hit zero.

After Alabama’s 24-17 loss to Tennessee, fans rushed the field and tore down both goalposts, reminiscent of what was done after the Volunteers’ 52-49 win against Alabama in 2022.

And once again, just like Vanderbilt, Tennessee will pay a $100,000 fine to Alabama for its fans rushing the field.

The SEC put these rules in place in June 2023 when announcing the 2024 conference schedule. The $100,000 fine is for a first offense, with steeper fines for more offenses: $200,000 for the second time and $500,000 for the third.

Before the start of the 2023 season, the SEC mandated that each school would provide a detailed field- or court-rush management plan that includes communication to encourage fans to stay off the field of play.

SEC schools were also required to have security and uniformed law enforcement around each team and game officials to prevent contact with spectators and secure a path for the visiting team.
