This week on HorseCenter, Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman offer analysis and top picks for a pair of interesting Grade 3 stakes from Churchill Downs. Two Sharp looks to continue her upward momentum in the Chilukki Stakes, while the Commonwealth Turf should be a wide-open affair.
A field of eight fillies and mares will race the one-turn mile in the Chilukki lead by Two Sharp, who was a heavy favorite in all four races in her career. She has two open-length victories and a narrow defeat in the Prioress (G3) at Saratoga for Phil Bauer.
The Commonwealth Turf drew a field of nine 3-year-olds that will go 1 1/16 miles on the grass, and several horses are serious win contenders. Herchee may end up as the favorite based on his four career starts. He ran well each time while, finishing in the top three, with wins in his first two races.
Enjoy this episode of HorseCenter as Matt and Brian try to beat the favorites in both stakes with their top picks. Thanks for watching the show.
Mark Newnham is hoping to take a two-pronged attack into next week’s Classic Mile, but it won’t feature recent Group One Hong Kong Mile runner Ramadan.
