This week on HorseCenter, Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman ramp up their coverage of the 2024 Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar as each host offers their current top five contenders for all seven main-track races next month at Del Mar. This year, more than ever, international stars should have a strong say in the world championships, starting with the $7 million Breeders’ Cup Classic.
This year in the Classic, the American contingent is led by the 3-year-old Fierceness. He will have to contend with the best from Japan in Forever Young and Ushba Tesoro along with City of Troy from the barn of Aidan O’Brien.
Forever Young came to America and ran an excellent third in the Kentucky Derby. City of Troy is a son of Justify and the best turf horse in Europe. He will try the dirt for the first time in his career after finishing first in 6 of 7 starts on the grass.
See you next week for more Breeders’ Cup coverage and, as always, thanks for watching the show.
