A Lambourn-based racing club is helping us fund the fight to find a cure by generously donating 50% of the purchase price of shares in its race-winning horse, Thank You Ma’am.
Founder of The Posh Pundit racing club, Rupert Adams (top left and centre), was inspired to help after hearing about the desperate need for funding in research into brain tumours on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Rupert said: “Like every adult in the UK, I am fully aware of the dangers of cancer. But I was particularly moved by an interview I heard on 5 Live Drive with Tony Livesey. Tony was talking to a researcher from Brain Tumour Research who was fantastic.
“My takeaway was that there is real hope and progress being made – but brain cancer appears to a forgotten cancer. I said then and there that if I can make a difference I will. Racing is my love, life and passion, and if I can combine the two, then I’m a happy man.”
True to his word, Rupert and The Posh Pundit will donate £40 of the £80 annual membership price on handsome Thank You Ma’am, who triumphed at Ascot at the close of last year (pictured above). Named in tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, the horse was led to victory by jockey Olive Nicholls.
