ARLINGTON – Abilene Christian’s Ryann Honea was named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after tying for the individual title at the BGSU Women’s Intercollegiate, the conference announced on Thursday.
Honea, ranked 82nd in the nation, carded a 5-over 218 to guide the Wildcats to a third-place finish among 14 teams in Litchfield Park, Ariz. on Wednesday. It’s the team’s best performance of the season through five tournaments and Honea’s third top-10 showing.
The San Angelo, Texas product logged a 1-over 72 in each of her first two rounds before a 3-over 74 in the third round tied her with UTEP’s Nawel Ben Letaief for the individual crown. Honea totaled 12 birdies across the tournament, including four in her final eight holes of the first round on Tuesday.
Honea is the reigning WAC individual champion and represented ACU women’s golf at last season’s NCAA Bryan Regional in the program’s inaugural campaign. The junior has placed within the top 30 in each of the Wildcats’ five tournaments in the 2024-25 season, including a second-place finish at the Boilermaker Classic to get the year started.
ACU returns to action when it hosts its first-ever tournament, the West Texas Classic at Abilene Country Club on March 3-4.
