Milford, CT – Hofstra women’s golf concluded play in its season-opening tournament Tuesday afternoon at the Sacred Heart University Fall Classic. In the final round, the Pride shot +67 on the par-72 Great River Golf Club course to place 8th out of eight teams with a three-round score of 1046 (+182).
Regina Cantu Chavez, the top finisher for the Pride, tied for 23rd at 247 (+31). Cantu Chavez shot rounds of 87-80-80. Claire Galante finished 30th at 253 (+37) following rounds of 89-78-86. Mai Takahashi placed 38th in the 44-player field with a 269 (+53) after rounds of 91-89-89. Victoria Minicucci placed 41st with a 280 (+64), while Dominique Jimenez came in 42nd place with a 283 (+67).
Boston University’s Madison Takai took the individual title with a three-round 219 (+3). The Terriers finished first as a team with 893 (+29) and four golfers in the top-five.
Hofstra returns to action September 15-17 for SHU’s Battle at the Creek at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware.
