It was a night of celebration and agonizing defeat for a handful of local teams on the Tennessee side of the state line – as some moved on in pursuit of a state title, and others were sent home for the season.
In volleyball, five teams battled in the Sectionals round for a shot at the state tournament – with the lone team, South Greene advancing in Class A.
In soccer, two teams (Greeneville and Science Hill) clinched home games for the Sectional round on Saturday, while three others will have to go on the road for a shot at the trip to state.
