World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler took in the Louvre before turning attention to his first Olympic golf tournament. When he begins play, he’ll do so alongside the third- and fourth-ranked players in the world.
The Masters champion is playing with Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and Sweden’s Ludvig Åberg in one of the marquee groups at Le Golf National, teeing off at 10:11 a.m. Thursday Paris time in Round 1 and 12:06 p.m. Friday in Round 2.
U.S. Eastern Time is six hours behind Paris.
Xander Schauffele, fresh off his second major of the season at the British Open, is the defending gold medalist from Tokyo and will play alongside Norway’s Viktor Hovland and Spain’s Jon Rahm starting at 11:55 a.m. Thursday in Paris. Rahm, the 2023 Masters champion, won for the first time since then last week at LIV Golf’s U.K. event.
The 60-player field will play four rounds at stroke play. The women’s Olympic tournament is next week.
