QUINCY (WGEM) – In the coming weeks and months, multiple businesses will be opening in the Gem City. This includes Raising Cane’s, Jersey Mike’s, and Dunham’s Sports.
The Herald-Whig hosted a job fair at The Atrium Hotel on third street on Thursday, and one of its main sponsors was Raising Cane’s. The event was completely free and provided members of the community to find a job. A lot of businesses that attended included Salvation Army, General Mills, and Kohl Wholesale. The event provided computers to help submit online applications as well as update resumes. For the people of Quincy, the environment is what gave them hope.
“I decided to go ahead and come talk to the people and very optimistic as far as finding a job. The atmosphere is really positive. Every employer that I talked to had recruitment in mind and they were really positive,” said Quincy resident Ralph Smith.
The event had dozens of residents that attended searching for their next great opportunity. If you were unable to attend Thursday’s event, many of the companies provide an online service to submit applications, while providing an equal opportunity to all to provide jobs within the area.
The employment rate in Quincy has grown roughly one percent over the past couple of years.
