BELFRY, Ky. (WSAZ) – A beloved football coach in Belfry, Kentucky has passed away.
Belfry High School head football coach Philp Haywood was injured in a crash on Saturday.
“He hit some black ice, and ran off the road, and he actually hit a tree stump, and he hit it pretty hard,” said Matt Varney, assistant coach.
Haywood has been a coach for the Pike County School District since 1984.
Haywood took over as Belfry Football Head Coach in 1984 and has spent the past 41 seasons with the pirates.
