HAYTI, Mo. (KFVS) – Hayti High School is limiting who can attend home basketball games.
In a statement, the school district says home games will be limited only to parents or guardians of student-athletes.
This is for both the boys and girls basketball games.
The decision comes after there was a “large fight” canceled a high school basketball tournament in Gideon on Friday, December 6.
School leaders have not confirmed if the fight at the Gideon Bulldog Classic is the reason for the new policy.
In the statement released on the Hayti High School Facebook page, school leaders said limiting who can attend the basketball games is “to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.”
The school said each player and cheerleader will be given two game passes that they can give to their parents or guardians. They will be available in the Administration Building from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Those without a pass will be turned away at the door.
School leaders said the new policy will be in effect until further notice.
