Travelers bound for Hawaii have been urged to reconsider their travel plans due to the arrival of tropical storm Hone. Hawaiian Airlines has started issuing travel waivers for affected travelers, with options to delay travel until next week for no penalty or receive a credit for the value of the trip.
Travelers flying to or from Hilo (ITO) and Kona (KOA) with Hawaiian Airlines, with bookings on August 24th and 25th, have been allowed to reschedule flights to alternative dates without incurring additional fees. However, new travel arrangements must be completed by August 29th. Any travel outside this window may not qualify for the waiver.

Passengers rebooking itineraries will be able to do so at no extra charge; however, they must remain in the same cabin class and travel the same route. Those who wish to cancel their travel plans can hold the original ticket’s value in credit, which must be redeemed within a year from the original purchase date. This option will not incur change fees, but travelers may be required to pay a fare difference when making a new booking. For more guidance, contact the Hawaiian’s customer service team at 1-800-367-5320 or use their live chat function on the airline’s website.
