Addressing the media ahead of the first T20I between India and England, Buttler highlighted how having loved ones on tour acts as an emotional anchor, helping players maintain mental well-being amidst hectic schedules.
He explained that modern cricket demands a considerable amount of time away from home, making family support vital.
“I think it’s important. We live in a day and age now, which is a very modern world, and I think it’s great to be able to have families on the tour with you and try and enjoy that,” Buttler remarked.

“There’s a lot of cricket, people spend a long time away from home, and I think post-COVID all that’s been highlighted as well. Absolutely, I don’t think it affects the cricket too much,” he added.
Buttler believes that integrating family time into cricket tours is not only possible but also beneficial for players’ overall performance.
“I think it’s important. We live in a day and age now, which is a very modern world, and I think it’s great to be able to have families on the tour with you and try and enjoy that. I don’t think it affects cricket too much.”
“I think it’s something that is very manageable. Personally, from my point of view, I think it’s really important to try and be able to share that with your family and lighten the load on being away from home,” he explained.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently implemented a policy restricting family time for Indian players during tours
According to the new guidelines, families can join players for up to 14 days during tournaments lasting over 45 days. For shorter series, the limit is capped at seven days.
This change follows India’s recent Test series losses to New Zealand and Australia, with the BCCI and head coach Gautam Gambhir reportedly aiming to sharpen players’ focus ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.
