A teaser for Happy Gilmore 2 was unveiled by Netflix on Wednesday. Adam Sandler is seen with his golf club first, after which Julie Bowen is seen in conversation with him.
Adam Sandler is reprising his role as the titular Happy Gilmore, the former hockey player turned unlikely golf sensation. Several key cast members from the original, including Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Ben Stiller, are returning, while new faces like Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, and Scott Mescudi have joined the cast. Additionally, Travis Kelce and professional golfer John Daly are set for cameos.
Sandler, Tim Herlihy, Robert Simonds, and Jack Giarraputo are returning as producers, with Sandler and Herlihy co-writing the screenplay, just as they did for the first film. Happy Gilmore, originally released by Universal in 1996, became a beloved cult classic. The original 1996 film, directed by Dennis Dugan, was pivotal in establishing Sandler’s career. The plot followed Happy Gilmore, a hot-headed hockey player who unexpectedly excels at golf in order to save his grandmother’s house. The plot for the sequel is largely under wraps.
A release date for Happy Gilmore 2 is yet to be revealed.
