HAMMOND — The Hammond Regional Arts Center (HRAC) invites the community to enjoy holiday shopping during its Fine & Functional exhibition, which will have special extended shopping hours on two upcoming Saturdays.
HRAC will extend its hours on Saturday, Nov. 23, during Starry Saturday and Saturday, Nov. 30 for Small Business Saturday. On these dates, shoppers can find one-of-a-kind, handcrafted holiday gifts created by local and regional artists. Fine & Functional includes unique pottery, textiles, jewelry, paintings and more.
The Hammond Downtown Development District’s Starry Saturday is a cherished Hammond tradition, where local businesses are put in the spotlight for the holiday season. As part of the festivities, HRAC will participate in the Holiday Sip & Shop, where $10 tickets include a Downtown Hammond tote, a map of participating retailers and a raffle entry. HRAC will be open for shopping from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and guests will receive a complimentary Cranberry Rosé Fizz to sip on as they shop.
On Small Business Saturday, HRAC will open its doors with extended hours, encouraging the community to shop small and support local artisans. This nationwide movement highlights the importance of supporting local businesses, artisans and makers to sustain the vitality of the community and local economy.
“Shopping local and supporting artists makes a real impact on our community,” said Tara Bennett, HRAC Media Coordinator. “Each purchase helps support an artist and strengthens our town’s vibrant creative community. When you choose handmade, you’re not just buying an item; you’re supporting a story, a craft and a community of creators.”
Fine & Functional will run through Dec. 19 during HRAC’s regular business hours, Wednesday through Friday, from noon to 6 p.m., providing an opportunity to shop and support artists this holiday season.
