ST. PETER, Minn. (KEYC) – Exciting news from Gustavus Adolphus College.
The athletic department announcing the university will be adding collegiate club women’s flag football. With help from the Minnesota Vikings and the NFL, Gustavus along with five other regional colleges will participate in the inaugural season that begins this spring.
“We got an early phone call in January from the Vikings expressing an interest on their end to see if we’d have some takers in the Midwest for this Women’s Flag Football League. And of course, like we did 25 years ago with Women’s Hockey, we wanted to be one of the first schools to jump into this and we’re just ecstatic that we’re at that point today and announcing this and can’t wait to get started,” said Brett Peterson, Director of Club Sports at Gustavus.
There will be a pair of jamborees for the teams to participate in before a championship tournament at the Vikings training facility in the Twin Cities on April 26th.
