Many gyms are packed, with plenty of people making resolutions to improve their health in the New Year. A number of people are working out at Pro Fitness 24. Some may be regulars, but for a lot of them, it’s their first time at this gym.
Barbells, dumbbells, treadmills, and plenty of other equipment, that’s what you see when walking into Pro Fitness 24. Gym Owner Roy Hopkins says every new year, his gym can see up to a 10 percent boost in memberships.
People come here if they want general fitness, 24 hours, they want a very unique, non-crowded environment…we’re not going to get everybody in town, but it’s got all that you’re looking for.” says Hopkins.
Hopkins says signing up is the easy part, but sticking to those New Year’s Resolutions can be a challenge. He went over some of the things you can do to stay committed.
Work out with a partner, family member, coworker…Just make yourself accountable, make it fun, don’t think about working out as torture…and also what I recommend is, try not to jump into the deep end; take baby steps depending on what your goals are.
Gym regular Andy Powers says nutrition plays a part in staying on top of these resolutions, but both Hopkins and Powers say the biggest key is knowing what you want to accomplish.
You gotta set realistic goals, write them down. says Hopkins.
It’s one of those things where you need to lay it out in front of yourself, look in the mirror and see what you need to do to keep progressing. said Powers.
According to the Health and Fitness Association, 12% of all gym memberships worldwide start in January.
