WEST PALM BEACH, Florida — The top-seeded Marquette University men’s golf team defeated Villanova, 6-1, and Butler, 5-2, in the first two rounds of in BIG EAST Match Play on Monday at Bear Lake Country Club.
The Golden Eagles will face the No. 3 seed and event-host UConn in Tuesday’s final round beginning with the seventh spot in the lineup at 8:49 a.m. Central time. The Huskies took down Creighton, 6-1, and second-seeded Xavier, 4-3 on Monday.
Max Lyons and Mason Schmidtke rolled to 6&5 and 7&6 wins, respectively, against Villanova in the Nos. 2 and 5 spots to begin the day, while all seven matchups against the Bulldogs went at least 16 holes.
