Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- All current 2023-2024 golf cart permits will expire at midnight on September 30, 2024.  In-person golf cart renewal permits for October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025 will be issued beginning Friday, September 27, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. in person at Effingham Police Department. 110 S. 3rd Street during the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday.

A renewal application may only be used if the golf cart has already been registered with Effingham Police Department for 2023-2024 and still has all required safety features installed.  A safety inspection for the golf cart is not required under the renewal application process if the above conditions are met.  

We encourage you to electronically submit your renewal application online at the City of Effingham’s website beginning Monday, September 16, 2024 to avoid longer wait times, but you will not be able to pay for or receive your renewal sticker before September 27th.  Your application will not be approved until full payment is made in person and you have received your renewal sticker. 

Renewal application and waiver can be downloaded online or obtained in person from the Effingham Police Department at 110 S. 3rd St., Effingham, IL 62401.  Submit your renewal in one of the following ways:

• Submit the online renewal
• Email us a copy of:
  • Completed golf cart renewal permit application 
  • Signed golf cart liability waiver
  • Current copy of liability insurance policy
  • Driver’s license

If you submit your renewal application online or by email prior to September 27th, you will need to bring a check, money order, or cash for the sticker fee to Effingham Police Department on or after September 27th during the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, to receive your sticker.  In-person applications will only be available on or after September 27, 2023.
