EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE golf Head Coach Derrick Brown has announced the addition of Jake Guse (Rockford, Illinois) to the Cougar golf program.
Guse comes to SIUE from Rockford Lutheran High School where he recorded a 70.8 scoring average his senior year while earning Medalist honors at the Luna Invitational with a 66 and the St. Bede’s Invitational with a 68.
“I think Jake will fit right into our culture here at SIUE,” Brown said. “He comes from the same club as many former players and understands what it takes to succeed at this level.”
A four-time Big Northern Conference selection, Guse also was a three-time sectional champion, winning three straight years from his sophomore year through his senior year. He also was a Regional Champion his senior year.
Guse earned three top-10 finishes at the Illinois High State High School Tournament, finishing fourth as sophomore, seventh as junior and fifth as senior.
He had five top-10 finishes in 2024 IJGA summer events including a low round of 66 at Cog Hill.
“He has the strength to step right into Division I golf and be successful,” Brown added. “I look forward to having him on campus next fall.”
