ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Men’s Golf team headed south to Spartanburg, South Carolina this weekend to continue their success on the course.
The Golden Grizzlies had an impressive showing at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational where they secured first place as a team (-7) and Luke Kelly earned an individual championship after a two-hole playoff. This marked Kelly’s first collegiate win shooting five under par. The Golden Grizzlies also found a third place overall finish in Jack Zubkus (-4) and eighth place finish in Robert Burns (E).
The Oakland Men’s Golf team will face off against Tennessee Tech, North Carolina A&T, Western Carolina, Wofford College, Charleston Southern, Winthrop, and host South Carolina Upstate. Luke Kelly, Jack Zubkus, Robert Burns, Brennen Sullivan, and Bhavneet Sohal will face off against these seven programs.
After a second place finish at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational and first place finish at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, the Oakland Men’s Golf team looks to keep the ball rolling in the Carolinas at The Johnson Group Carolina Cup.
Play will begin Sunday at 11AM at the Carolina Country Club. The second round will begin Monday morning at 8AM, and the final round will kick off Tuesday at 8AM.
