Trainer Mark Glatt said nothing is set in stone yet about
whether Mi Hermano Ramón will go to the Grade 1, $300,000 Frank E. Kilroe Mile
rather than this month’s $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1).
“No,” he said in a text message Friday afternoon to Horse Racing Nation. “Nothing
has been decided.”
5 millionaires are atop Pegasus day invitations.
Daily Racing Form reported Friday that Mi Hermano
Ramón was likely to stay at his Santa Anita home base and race in the Kilroe
Mile on the grass March 1 rather than take an invitation into the 1 1/8-mile Pegasus Turf on Jan. 25
at Gulfstream Park.
Now a 5-year-old gelding, Mi Hermano Ramón got his biggest
win Nov. 30 in the Seabiscuit Handicap (G2) at Del Mar. The son of Creative
Cause owned by Rancho Temescal Thoroughbreds and Red Baron’s Barn followed that
with a second-place finish last Thursday in the San Gabriel (G2) at Santa
Anita, losing by three-quarters of a length to championship contender Johannes.
Mi Hermano Ramón has won two stakes and hit the board in
three others, compiling a record of 10: 4-2-1 and earnings of $361,480. He has
yet to test Grade 1 waters.
