A day after clinching a WPIAL playoff berth, North Allegheny returned to action traveling to Indiana High School for some Saturday afternoon non-section basketball. The Tigers would pick up an impressive non-section win defeating the Little Indians by a score of 51-39.
NA hit five three-pointers in the first quarter, which was all of their points in the frame and led 15-9 after a quarter. Vange Balouris had four of the three-pointers and 12 points in the opening period. Indiana settled in, in the second quarter, outscoring the Tigers 11-10 but North Allegheny still led 25-20 going into the half.
Rosalia Varlotta scored nine of the Tigers’ 11 points in the third quarter and North Allegheny led 36-29 going into the fourth quarter. The offense picked back up for NA in the final period as they outscored Indiana 15-10 and came away with the 51-39 victory.
Balouris finished with 23 points. Varlotta ended the day with 19.
North Allegheny improves to 8-10 overall. Indiana falls to 15-4 overall. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday when they host North Hills at 6:30 p.m. at UPMC Court in Section 1-6A action. This game will be broadcast on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
