GIDEON, Mo. (KFVS) – A boys basketball tournament has been canceled due to an altercation in Southeast Missouri.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office, at around 7:52 p.m. on Friday, December 6, an all-call for all available deputies to respond to Gideon High School school was sent out.
The sheriff’s office said this was due to a large fight in the building. The scene was quickly gotten under control by officers.
There were no reported injuries related to the altercation.
East Prairie Superintendent Dustin Hicks says the altercation occurred between other participating school districts at the Gideon Boys Basketball Tournament. Due to the altercation, Friday’s games were canceled.
