It’s never too early to start looking at quarterbacks.
The Giants have the second-lowest odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to have the NFL’s worst record after their Week 1 debacle, with their +600 odds trailing only the Panthers at +260.
Both teams were annihilated in their Week 1 season opener, with the Panthers getting waxed by the Saints, 47-10, and the Giants looking non-competitive in a 28-6 loss to the Vikings.
The Broncos are also expected to struggle for the remainder of the season, sitting with +850 odds to have the NFL’s worst record, followed by the Commanders (+900) and Patriots (+950).
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Panthers | +260 |
Giants | +600 |
Broncos | +850 |
Commanders | +900 |
Patriots | +950 |
Titans | 11/1 |
Raiders | 12/1 |
Cardinals | 17/1 |
Colts | 25/1 |
Browns | 26/1 |
Adding to the expected struggles for the Giants and Panthers franchises is the remaining strength of schedule for the teams, which rank second- and third-most difficult, respectively, among the squads with the best odds of being selected No. 1 overall in 2025.
The Giants had 10/1 odds to have the worst record entering the season, the fifth-highest odds in the NFL.
Carolina had some reason for optimism entering the season with a new coach, but that has fallen by the wayside after the team’s pitiful performance, none more concerning than Bryce Young’s struggles.
Big Blue, despite having a competent coach in Brian Daboll, can’t overcome poor roster decisions and putrid quarterback play from Daniel Jones.
Don’t expect the Giants to go into tank mode for a quarterback, though.
Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are both on the hot seat entering this season so another season of six wins or less could spell a change in leadership by owner John Mara.
Mara has overseen a team that won two Super Bowls in 2008 and 2012, but the team has been mostly an embarrassment since 2014.
The Giants owning the NFL’s third-worst record since then, going 60-103-1 over the past decade (36.9 win percentage), ahead of only the Jets and Jaguars.
They are undoubtedly the worst team in that group of three in 2024.
Should either the Giants or Panthers have the worst record this year, they will be looking to nab one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL Draft such as Quinn Ewers, Carson Beck, Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders.
