The NBA is back!
While the Celtics are busy hanging banner No. 18 in the rafters, other teams should love their chances of stopping a Boston repeat. Why? Because we’re in the NBA’s parity era — six different champions have been crowned over the past six seasons. If we get a seventh this June, that’s new territory for a league built on dynasties.
But we’ve also got many juicy storylines that will define this NBA campaign. Can the new-look Knicks bring glory back to the Garden? Did Joel Embiid finally get the perfect partner in Philly? How will the league’s first father-son duo of LeBron and Bronny James fit on the court? Will Victor Wembanyama assume the mantle of face of the NBA in Year 2? How will Ja Morant look in his return? Can Luka Dončić again lead the Mavericks out of a fearsome Western Conference that includes the Thunder, Timberwolves, Nuggets, Suns and more?
No one knows the answers to those questions, but we’ll have you covered every step of the way as we find out together.
We will provide the best and deepest coverage of the NBA, just as you’ve come to expect from The Athletic. Our reporters will deliver the latest intel on your favorite teams, mixed with singular stories that take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments, news and drama.
We will have daily coverage you can depend on — from setting up each weekend of games and then breaking it down afterward to the latest plugged-in rumblings, statistical analysis and more from Sam Amick, Joe Vardon, John Hollinger, David Aldridge, Marcus Thompson II, Fred Katz and more. And our work won’t stop when the season does, as this summer’s stacked NBA Draft will be a storyline all season with likely No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg looming as the ultimate prize.
We know you’re just as excited as we are for this NBA season, and we promise to deliver. Check out our weekly schedule below along with three recommendations to get the most out of The Athletic this season.
