Georgia football and Mississippi State are set to do battle at Sanford Stadium in Athens in what is the Bulldogs sixth game of the season and fourth in the SEC. UGA is looking to improve on their 4-1 record and build some momentum with a monster showdown against Texas looming.
Georgia has a lot of difficult games remaining on their schedule, this however is not one of them. Mississippi State is 1-4 this season and has one of the worst losses in the country when Toledo came to Starkvile and knocked off MSU 41-17.
With that being the case you would be correct to assume that Georgia is a heavy favorite in this game.
As of 8:00 am EST on Oct. 12, Georgia is a 34-point favorite against Mississippi State according to ESPNBet. The over-under is also set at 54.5 points.
Nobody will be surprised to hear that I am predicting Georgia to defeat Missisippi State today. In fact, I would guess that no one, even Mississippi State fans, will predict an upset win by MSU in this game either. But the more fun thing to predict in this game is the final score and if UGA will cover.
I see Georgia getting off to a fast start (finally) and leading by at 24 points at halftime. This would put them well on pace to cover the point spread, but I think Kirby Smart will give Georgia’s backups a lot of time and I don’t think he’ll be looking to run up the score.
But I still think Georgia will get there and cover the 34 points mainly because their defense will play lights out and keep Mississippi State out of the end zone for most of the game. Because of UGA’s solid play on defense, I think the under will hit as well.
Final Prediction: Georgia wins 45-7
