Five Georgia football assistant coaches received contract extensions this offseason and another is getting a significant raise after this season as part of his deal.
Defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, defensive line coach Tray Scott and tight ends coach Todd Hartley signed amendments to their contracts for an additional year through June 30, 2027 in agreements that will run two more seasons after this season, according to contracts obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald Thursday in an open records request.
Offensive line coach Stacy Searels and outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe signed amendments through June 30, 2026, so their agreements will run another season after this.
Wide receivers coach James Coley signed a contract that runs through two seasons when he jumped from South Carolina after six weeks on staff with the Gamecocks.
His annual total pay will rise to $850,000 on Jan. 1, 2025, up from $650,000.
Georgia agreed to pay $450,000 to South Carolina for “direct payment by the Association to the University of South Carolina.”
South Carolina coach Shane Beamer mentioned the buyout when Coley was hired at Georgia.
“The previous coach made a decision that he felt was best for his family,” Beamer said. “We collected the $450,000 and then some that we were owed for violating or leaving his contract.”
Hartley will see his pay increase from $878,000 to $900,000 a year on July 1, 2025 and then to $925,000 on July 1, 2026.
Searels will get a raise in the second year of his deal, with his pay going from $778,000 to $800,000. Uzo-Diribe will make $628,000 annually.
New running backs coach Josh Crawford is also under contract through June 30, 2026 at $450,000 per year.
As previously reported, Schumann is making $2.003 million annually, among the highest paid coordinators in the country while Scott’s annual pay is $1.205 million.
