SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — GE Vernova is making a significant investment in its Gas and Wind Turbine Manufacturing Facility, with a $35 million infusion expected to create 100 new jobs. State Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara highlighted the importance of this development, saying, “We’re seeing New York embrace the clean energy technology, we’re seeing that public, private partnership take it to the next level. This is an investment in jobs, an investment in the economy, but more than that, it’s an investment in people.”
The investment comes as GE Vernova plans to triple its wind turbine production and begin international shipments. Brian Carlson, the plant leader, noted the facility’s growth, stating, “This is the newest line that was started in 2023, in 2023 we shipped 4 wind turbines, last year we shipped 151, we’re on track to ship another 150 this year.” He added that while the plant is currently fulfilling orders, it will start shipping to Australia in 2025.
Beyond the Schenectady plant, GE Vernova is investing $600 million in North American manufacturing, with a key focus on the Niskayuna Research Complex. Carlson explained, “We’re investing $100 million up at our advanced research center to expand our capabilities and our, you know, develop the next generation of energy products to power the world.”
The job market in Texas is a little softer than last year, according to the annual employment forecast from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
