GameStop store in Newport Shopping Center to close – LINK nky
The GameStop located inside the Newport Shopping Center is closing.
A sign announcing the closure was posted on the storefront window, thanking customers for their loyalty. The sign also encouraged shoppers to visit nearby GameStop stores.
Inside the store, shelves and displays were in the process of being cleared.
Since 2020, GameStop has closed over 700 stores around the world, according to gamerant.com. This trend is due to the increasing digitization of video game purchases and a decrease in overall sales numbers for the retailer.
