REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – The Quinnipiac women’s golf team kicked off their final tournament of the fall season as they wrapped up day one of the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in fifth place out of ten teams.
Samantha Galantini sits in a tie for 7th place with Quinnipiac’s best finish on day one. Galantini shot a 74 (+2) in the first round and a 71 (-1) in the second round for a two-round total of 145 (+1). Galantini sits five strokes behind the overall leader.
Sophia Fujita carded a 72 (E) on the first 18 holes before shooting a 75 (+3) in the final 18 holes. Fujita currently sits in a tie for 11th place with a total score of 147 (+3).
First-year Vaidehi Shah finished day one a +9 after shooting a 80 (+8) and a 73 (+1) in the two rounds played on Saturday. Meg Yoshida, who is competing as an individual is tied with Shah in 29th place after shooting a 75 (+3) and 78 (+6) on the first day of the tournament.
Marisa Flores finished one stroke behind Shah and Yoshida and sits in a tie for 34th place (+10). Flores shot a 77 (+5) in both rounds on the opening day of the Invitational.
Natalie Spiska rounded out Quinnipiac’s grouping and she sits in a tie for 47th place (+13, 157).
The Bobcats will return to the course on Sunday, October 20th as they close out play at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
