GAUTIER, Miss. (WLOX) – The Pascagoula-Gautier School District announced funeral arrangements and a vigil in honor of Shermarion Miner.
Officials said the 15-year-old collapsed at the Gautier High School fieldhouse on January 9. Miner was taken to the Ocean Springs Hospital but ultimately passed away. It is unknown at this time what led to Miner’s death.
A vigil for Miner will be held at Vaughn-Wallace Stadium in Gautier on Thursday, January 16 at 5 p.m.
Miner’s funeral service will be held Sunday, January 19 at 2 p.m. at the Healer Nation Healing Center on Martin Bluff Road.
Miner was a sophomore and played offensive line on Gautier High School’s football team.
In a statement, the Pascagoula-Gautier School District said “There are no words to describe the grief that has plagued the Gautier and Pascagoula-Gautier School District community. The loss of such a young soul, just 15 years old, has left a hole in our hearts. Shermarion was a beloved member of the Gator football team, and his teammates and coaches have lost a brother.”
