FSU football head coach Mike Norvell talks early signing day, 2025 recruiting class
The countdown to Florida State football’s 2025 season is underway. While FSU knows its future opponents, now it’s a matter of when the Seminoles will play them.
The ACC will announce the full schedule for the 2025 season on Monday night. For now, FSU has four games set and will await the kickoff time, including its season opener against Alabama at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Coming off a 2-10 season, Mike Norvell made a U-haul full of changes from his coaching staff to being actively involved in the transfer portal.
Plenty of storylines are heading to 2025, and it will be interesting to see if FSU can regain relevance. Here are the games to watch on FSU’s schedule:
It will be FSU’s season opener and has primetime written all over it. Alabama finished this season 9-4 and was in the conversation for the College Football Playoff.
For FSU, it can be a statement game in front of a capacity crowd at Doak, and it can give the Seminoles the boost they need if they can pull off a stunning upset against the Crimson Tide.
On the other hand, both teams will be breaking in a new quarterback. The biggest difference is that FSU is set with Thomas Castellanos, and Alabama’s new starting QB will be something to look out for.
Whoever is the guy, at least Bama will have its playmaker Ryan Williams back for his sophomore season.
In-state rivalry games are always fun, no matter what record either team has, especially when FSU has to travel to the Swamp.
This past season, the Gators annihilated the Seminoles 31-11, and they might take a step forward next season after finishing 8-5 and having DJ Lagway back at quarterback.
Lagway will be a player to watch next year. He established himself as a full-time starter. As a freshman, he threw 1,915 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
Florida didn’t start well but finished strong by winning four straight, including a win against Tulane in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl.
Cam Ward is out, and Carson Beck is in. Coming off a 10-3 season, Miami had the the No. 1 ranked offense in the country.
It was Mario Cristobal’s best season in tenure despite not making the playoffs.
Despite losing to the Hurricanes 36-14, FSU played exceptionally well against Ward, who will likely be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, by holding him to zero touchdowns.
Miami is looking to pick up where it left off, with Beck being the next quarterback.
The last time FSU played at Death Valley, the Seminoles won in overtime. The Tigers returned the favor by beating the Seminoles 29-13 at Doak.
The Tigers finished the year 10-4, won the ACC title, and became an automatic qualifier for the College Football Playoff.
Clemson could enter the 2025 season as an early favorite to win the ACC, with Cade Klubnik returning at quarterback after throwing 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Depending on the week of the game, the stage could be set for a primetime atmosphere, which could be a deciding factor in which team contends for the ACC title and likely makes the playoffs.
