AUBURN, Ala. (WBRC) – Four members of the Auburn men’s golf program will compete at the 124th edition of the U.S. Amateur between August 12 and the 18th at the National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota.

Senior Carson Bacha will make his third consecutive appearance in the U.S. Amateur along with senior Brendan Valdes and sophomore Jackson Koivun. This will be Valdes’ and Koivun’s second appearance. Sophomore Josiah Gilbert is set to make his first appearance.

Koivun received exemption status as a quarterfinalist from the previous U.S. Amateur. Bacha, Gilbert and Valdes are exempt as top-100 point leaders in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).

The U.S. Amateur, hosted by Hazeline National and Chaska Town Course, hosts 312 of the nation’s top amateur golfers all vying for the Havemeyer Trophy.

Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13 will see the four men face off in 36 holes of stroke play before the field is cut to 64 ahead of the first round of match play on Wednesday.

The championship will conclude with a 36-hole finale on Sunday, August 18.

The Gold Channel and Peacock will provide live coverage starting at 2 p.m. CT with Wednesday’s opening round of matches.

In 2023, Auburn was the only school in the country to have four representatives reach round 32. J.M. Butler progressed the furthest before falling in the semifinals to tournament runner-up Neal Shipley.
