Joining the NBA Champions and finding a role is no easy task but a former Clemson Tiger is carving out his spot for the Denver Nuggets.
Hunter Tyson was drafted in 2023, traded in a deal to join the likes of Nikola Jokic and had to battle for his place. He saw just 2.7 minutes per game as a rookie, appearing in 18 games while spending time with the team’s G-League affiliate.
2024 is a different story as Tyson has already played in 17 of Denver’s 28 games. He’s shooting 46.9 percent from the field and earned a special honor as the team’s Defensive Player of the Game Dec. 16 with high praise from head coach Michael Malone.

“This award goes to a guy tonight that stays ready, was disciplined, contested, rebounded, tough ass kid. Hunter Tyson,” Malone said.
Tyson had a strong game in the win over the Sacramento Kings, scoring seven points on 100 percent shooting, adding a steal and three rebounds. As Denver continues to battle in the West, Tyson is chiseling out his role.
