Jayson Tatum has endured significant criticism this summer. NBA fans have been questioning his position among the best players in the world, with Steve Kerr’s decision to bench him in both of Team USA’s matches against Serbia adding fuel to the fire. Former Los Angeles Lakers star Michael Cooper has taken the opportunity to pile on.
Cooper’s criticism came during a recent “Start, Bench, Cut” game on his “Showtime with Coop” podcast. He had three choices: Scottie Pippen, James Worthy and Tatum. Of course, the Celtics star is the one who Cooper chose to cut, partially due to the resumes of the two former stars.
Nevertheless, Cooper’s decision is just another indication of the current lack of respect Tatum is receiving from the wider NBA audience despite leading the Celtics in every major statistical category during the NBA Finals.
