TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Madison County football is not short on success. The Cowboys have won seven state titles, the most recent coming in December with the Cowboys win over Hawthorne. Many boys from Boot Hill have gone on to play in college, some in the NFL.
One former Cowboy came back home this weekend for his first ever camp. Ironhead Gallon said putting on a camp for the hometown kids has always been a dream for him, and on Saturday it’s happening. Gallon played for Georgia Southern before bouncing around in the NFL and CFL.
He’s a firefighter in Atlanta now, but can’t wait to come back home and give back to the kids.
“I’m just a vessel. I feel like my story is to be able to enlighten all the other kids,” he said. “I’m from Madison. We didn’t have much growing up. I was able to get some things accomplished and that’s my whole thing. If I can do it, they can do it. I’m excited. I feel like I’m going to go back and run back on the football field one more time. I actually posted on Facebook, game week!”
Gallon said he’s expecting 200 kids for the free camp Saturday. For more information, Gallon said the best way to reach him is his Instagram page.
