Minnesota has its sights set on the postseason after a 5-2 start. After losing Christian Darrisaw to significant left knee injuries, the Vikings have a found veteran replacement in Robinson.
Jacksonville is having a much worse season. The Jaguars are 2-6 after another loss in Week 8. The club appears to be prioritizing the long-term over the short-term by unloading Robinson.
Robinson had a decorated Alabama career, helping the Crimson Tide win the national championship in 2015, the first of 2 All-SEC seasons. He was a Unanimous All-American in 2016 and won the Outland Trophy.
The Jaguars took Robinson No. 34 overall in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He has played in 91 regular-season games, all starts, in his pro career.
In April 2022, Robinson signed a 3-year extension with the Jaguars worth $54 million. Compensation for Robinson in the trade was not immediately revealed.
Interestingly, Minnesota and Jacksonville face each other in Week 10.
