DIANA, Texas (KLTV) – The New Diana/Sabine football game was suspended early after a player was injured and had to be taken to a hospital by ambulance.
According to a spectator at the game, quarterback Colt Sparks was hit toward the end of the third quarter. The PA announcer made an announcement that the game would be called. He then asked for everyone to stay in their seats until the ambulance had left the field.
Sabine ISD released the following on its Facebook page:
Prayers tonight for Colt Sparks, our Varsity Quarterback, who sustained an injury in the 3rd quarter of the New Diana game. He was transported by ambulance but is in stable condition. Please keep the Sparks family in your prayers as he is treated and recovers from tonight.
New Diana was leading the game, 32-0.
Sparks announced on X in April that he had committed to play for Texas Tech.
