Last week, M. R. Štefánik airport has come with new air connections to uncommon destinations. On Tuesday, September 24, the first charter flights to the Portuguese island of Madeira launched. Beginning Thursday, September 26, vacationers will have another novelty at their disposal – direct flights from Bratislava to Qatar on the Arabian Peninsula.
“We are excited to provide one more planned addition to the current summer season – the island of Madeira – as a part of our record expansion on the Slovak market. The place, nicknamed the Island of Eternal Spring, is thanks to its pleasant climate and ever-present flowers an ideal destination for nature lovers, hikers, active trips and even gastronomy enthusiasts,” said Juraj Sliacky, country manager of the travel agency Čedok, which has included flights from Bratislava to Madeira in its offer.
The flight from Bratislava to Madeira takes 4 and a half hours and is operated by Smartwings using a Boeing 737-800 with a capacity of 189 passengers. Direct charter flights to Madeira from Bratislava are scheduled during September and October every Tuesday, and they will continue next year as well.
Another new development is the introduction of charter flights from Bratislava to Asian Qatar starting from September 26, once again with Smartwings as the carrier. A total of 16 flight rotations are planned from September to January 6 and then again from April 7, with the final flights of the season scheduled for the turn of May and June 2025. “After the successful launch of Oman and Bahrain, the travel agency Hydrotour is bringing a new exotic destination to Slovak vacationers – the exclusive QATAR. Direct non-stop flights from Bratislava to Qatar take only 5 hours and will start as early as September 2024,” said CK Hydrotour marketing director Matúš Milko.
“Direct flights from M. R. Štefánik Airport to the Portuguese island of Madeira, as well as direct flights from Bratislava to Qatar, are available to passengers for the first time ever. These flights expand the range of air connections departing from Bratislava and are proof that the holiday season is extending into the early autumn months,” commented the general director and chairman of the board of M. R. Štefánik Airport, Dušan Novota.”
Qatar is a new addition to the map of exotic air travel destinations that passengers can depart to from Bratislava in the upcoming winter season of 2024/25. Travel agencies are also preparing direct flights from M. R. Štefánik Airport to other distant countries – for example, to the Thai island of Phuket, the islands of Mauritius and Zanzibar, to Cuba (Holguín), to Vietnam (Phu Quoc Island), to the Dominican Republic, as well as to Oman, Bahrain, and Dubai.
