WATCH: FSU basketball coach Brooke Wyckoff gives thoughts on Ta’Niya Latson, Makayla Timpson’s record-breaking performance in 88-66 win over Miami.
No. 24 Florida State women’s basketball (17-4, 7-2) showed out at Boston College (12-11, 3-7) in its 104-80 victory on Thursday night at the Conte Forum.
This was FSU’s sixth 100-point performance, breaking a school record for 100-point games in a season. It was also the first time Boston College allowed a team to score over 100 points since 2015.
FSU had all five of its starters reach double figures. Ta’Niya Latson and and Makayla Timpson led with with 21 points. Timpson added 11 rebounds, earning her 12th double-double in a season and 43rd in her career. The senior was 9 for 10 from the field. She had three blocks.
Latson didn’t have her best scoring performance, but she was still effective. She added eight rebounds and seven assists. The nation’s top scorer was also 5 for 5 from the field.
O’Mariah Gordon added 13 points and five boards. Malea Williams matched her season-best with 10 points for the third time this season.
“Scoring-wise, we had a lot of players rebounding and contributing in that stack column, and so it really was a team effort,” FSU coach Brooke Wyckoff said.
“I just told the team how proud I was of them, just how focused they came in here. It’s not an easy place to play on the road at Boston College, and they just came in and handled their business and did really, really well.”
In the first half, FSU looked like it would run away with the victory early, but the Eagles got hot late in the first quarter and early second.
BC had its first lead, 27-26. The Seminoles were still in control and led 51-39 at the half. BC’s Teya Sidberry led the Eagles with 28 points.
FSU kept its lead to 12 heading into the fourth quarter. The Seminoles then outscored the Eagles 31-19, and FSU led by as many as 20 points.
FSU will return to Donald L. Tucker Center to host Wake Forest (8-13, 1-9) on Sunday at 6 p.m.
